A UK summer on a budget
The summer holidays are coming and you might be panicking about what to do, how to entertain the kids for 6 weeks and create lasting memories. Your budget doesn’t have to be blown this summer and you can still make the most of the warm months and long days with the family.
Make the most of the warm days
Get outside as much as the weather allows and soak in the sunshine and fresh air. Walks and bike rides can be a fun way to make the most of it and you can take a picnic with you. Summer is the time for a picnic in the grassy field or park where you can listen out for birds and watch the kids get creative outdoors.
Take up gardening
Get your garden ready at the beginning and watch it grow through the summer. You can get the kids to plant some flowers or fruit and see who can help their grow the most. Garden centres can be expensive but you can buy packs of seeds for very little and help them come to life.
Have a cooking competition
Invite friends or family to cook or bake something to bring over and bring everyone’s creations to the dinner table. Make it interesting by setting a theme or specific cuisine, like Thai food and enjoy the feast. This is a great way to get everyone together and to get the kids involved in cooking too!
Take a Road trip
This could be to a family member’s house, camping site or your nearest beach. Play some car games and then enjoy the new scenery when you get there.
Camping
Camping will always be a great option for low cost getaways and the UK had endless amounts of site to choose from. This will be much cheaper than flying somewhere and you can enjoy UK countryside and sleeping under the stars. If you can’t get away create a tent or fort in your garden, make s’mores and enjoy the stars right at home.
