How does the UEFA generate revenue?
This year the EUROS is expected to raise EUR9.35 million for the Hat Trick Programme over the next 4 years. This will be revenue to improve facilities and training programmes to ensure the game improves to reach new levels.
There have been reports that each of the 24 teams which reach the games in Germany this year will receive £7.92million with the ultimate prize being £26 million this year.
Not only does the EURO games bring in money for the football clubs themselves, the increased spending gives the economy a boost as well. The public spending in summer is increased with this event as more people go out to each and go to pubs meaning hospitality is in for a treat this summer.
So where does the revenue come from for the UEFA?
Media Rights
This is one of the largest sources of revenue for the EUROs as millions of people around the world watch the games. With live streaming and broadcasting and people pay to watch.
The Value of Media rights is expected to surpass the 2020 mark of EUR1.135 billion this year.
Sponsorships
Sponsoring the EUROs allow brands to market their product or services gaining worldwide exposure. This year Coca-Cola, Unilever, Booking.com, Adidas and more are among the large brands sponsoring the event this year.
Ticketing and hospitality
This year over 2 and half million match day tickets are available with multiple sell outs. Ticketing is a huge source of revenue as more people than ever come together for the event of the summer.
Whilst at the games spending on hospitality jumps at the EUROs as a celebratory event. Reports expect hospitality and retail venues to make £2.75 billion during this years EUFA football campaign.
Licensing
For companies to produce official merchandise of football clubs they must procure a licence. The licensing fee is the last of the largest sources of revenue for the UEFA.
