Mark Zuckerberg Wears $900K Watch While Ending Meta Fact-Checking.

The CEO of the technology giant donned a Greubel Forsey 'Hand Made 1' timepiece, priced at $895,500, while unveiling a significant policy reform.

Mark Zuckerberg donned an exclusive Swiss timepiece valued at approximately $900,000 while revealing a comprehensive policy reform for Facebook and Instagram. He also expressed his willingness to assist Donald Trump in confronting governments perceived as overly censorious, as reported.

In a video message shared on Facebook on Tuesday, Zuckerberg committed to emphasizing free speech following Trump's potential return to the White House. He announced that Meta Platforms, the largest social media company globally, would eliminate its third-party fact-checkers and promote increased political content across its social media platforms.

Meta, which also owns WhatsApp and Threads, plans to “work with President Trump to push back on governments around the world that are going after American companies and pushing to censor more”, Zuckerberg added.

Meta intends to eliminate numerous restrictions concerning subjects such as immigration and gender, which the 40-year-old billionaire described as being disconnected from mainstream discussions. This statement was made while he was adorned with a Greubel Forsey “Hand Made 1” watch on his left wrist, as reported by Bloomberg. The retail price of the watch is $895,500, excluding taxes, according to the publication.

Greubel Forsey states on its website that only two to three pieces of the Hand Made 1 model are produced annually. The company claims that 95% of the watch is created using hand-operated tools, with each timepiece requiring approximately 6,000 hours to complete.

Mark Zuckerberg, who initially favored gray T-shirts and navy zip-up hoodies during the early days of Facebook, has recently been spotted wearing several rare luxury watches.

A viral video from the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant last year captured Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, admiring a $1 million Richard Mille RM 30-01 watch worn by Ambani, the youngest son of Asia’s wealthiest individual.

“This watch is fantastic,” Chan exclaimed in the video. “That’s so cool,” Zuckerberg agreed, saying: “I never really wanted to get a watch, but after seeing that, I was like: ‘Watches are cool.’”

Since that time, Zuckerberg has been observed donning high-end watches from brands such as Patek Philippe, Jaeger-LeCoultre, De Bethune, and two models from FP Journe.

As reported by Forbes, Zuckerberg overtook Oracle founder Larry Ellison on Monday, positioning himself as the third richest individual globally, with a net worth of $217.7 billion.

Mark Zuckerberg's decision to sport a $900,000 watch while announcing significant policy changes raises questions about his priorities. While he champions free speech and political content, his display of wealth and luxury seems out of touch with the everyday struggles of many social media users.

The move to eliminate fact-checkers and ease content restrictions might appeal to some, but it also risks enabling the spread of misinformation. Zuckerberg's actions appear more focused on bolstering his personal brand and aligning with powerful political figures than on addressing the real challenges facing social media platforms and their global influence.
