Robin Williams' Former San Francisco Home Sells for $18 Million.
The stunning Sea Cliff home with ocean views that Robin Williams lived in for many years has finally been sold for $18.1 million after being on the market for quite a while. This beautiful Italian Renaissance-style villa, located at 540 El Camino Del Mar, was first listed in October 2023 for $25 million. After over a year, the price dropped to $20 million in September 2024, and the sale was wrapped up on January 23, 2025.
If the deal had gone through a few weeks earlier, it would have made the list of San Francisco's top ten most expensive sales of 2024. Williams was known for his incredible improvisation skills and the wide range of characters he could create on the fly, both in serious roles and comedies, which solidified his status as one of the greatest comedians ever.
He racked up a ton of awards over the years, like an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmys, six Golden Globes, and five Grammys. His San Francisco pad spans 10,598 square feet, featuring six bedrooms and sitting on a prime corner lot of almost half an acre in one of the city's top neighborhoods.

Built back in 1926, it boasts stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands, and the Pacific Ocean. Robin Williams and his then-wife, Marsha Garces Williams, bought the place in 1991 for $3.2 million and gave it a major facelift in the early '90s, updating the home while keeping its original charm intact.
This place comes with some pretty cool extras like a library, fitness studio, sauna, wet bar, wine cellar, and even a few panic rooms with walk-in safes. The yard is beautifully landscaped, perfect for hosting classy gatherings, featuring a dining patio with a barbecue, a fire pit, and plenty of seating spots.
The Sea Cliff neighborhood has seen some famous residents, including photographer Ansel Adams and actress Sharon Stone. The stunning views of the San Francisco Bay and Marin Headlands were likely a big draw for the buyer, who remains anonymous.
The location is prime, surrounded by well-known tech entrepreneurs and just a short distance from shopping, dining, China and Baker beaches, Land’s End, and some of the best public golf courses in the country, making it a smart investment. Marsha Garces Williams took full ownership of the home after her divorce from Robin Williams in 2010.
Following Robin's passing in 2014, his three kids, including two from his marriage to Garces Williams, inherited the family’s 653-acre Napa Valley estate, while she opted to sell the San Francisco home since their kids had grown and moved out. Before he passed away, Williams also owned a property in Tiburon, California, which sold for $5.3 million in 2020.
