‘The View’ Host Joy Behar Cuts $2 Million from Listing Price of Hamptons Home.

Joy Behar, the long-time host of The View, has dramatically reduced the price of her cherished Sag Harbor home by $2 million, just four months after initially listing it for $10.95 million. Now priced at $8.99 million, the sale marks a significant drop, coinciding with the Hamptons' busy season. Behar, 82, bought the four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom residence in 2016 for $4.75 million. Though the reason for the sale remains unclear, it could be related to her future plans, especially since her contract with The View is set to end in the summer.

Behar had previously addressed retirement rumors in 2022, only to confirm she had signed a new three-year deal with ABC, ensuring her continued presence on the show through 2025. In March, when asked by The View executive producer Brian Teta about stepping down, Behar remarked, "Everybody leaves eventually; even you will leave eventually." She dismissed any notion of quitting soon, calling it "wishful thinking."

Despite the price reduction, Behar’s Hamptons property remains a standout. Located just a short walk from the beach, the 4,500-square-foot home sits on a 0.63-acre lot in the heart of Sag Harbor Village, providing plenty of privacy thanks to lush trees surrounding the grounds. Behar’s meticulously decorated residence includes a spacious main house with a chef’s kitchen, formal dining room, living room, and den, as well as a cozy guest cottage.

Behar has long cherished her Hamptons escape, a love that began in the 1960s when she rented a home in Hampton Bays with her sorority sisters. Over the years, she has upgraded her properties, forming a deep connection with the area. She once said, “I love the Hamptons. There is no better place. To me, it resembles Provence more than any other place I’ve been, and I like it more than Provence."

Though the property was not on the market when Behar first discovered it, she was drawn to the house’s history and character. “This house is over 100 years old — I’m almost as old as this house! But it’s a beautiful house, it has bones, and it has history,” she remarked.

Behar, who also owns an apartment on the Upper West Side, likely looks to balance the peace and charm of the Hamptons with the convenience of being close to The View studio. She purchased the Manhattan apartment for $2.4 million in 2017, solidifying her dual presence in both the bustling city and the tranquil Hamptons.

As she navigates the next chapter of her career and life, this home will undoubtedly continue to stand as a testament to her journey.
