Kanye West’s Abandoned Malibu Mansion Sells for Over $30 Million In Less Than A Week.
Kanye West’s infamous abandoned Malibu mansion has found a new owner, selling for over $30 million in less than a week after hitting the market. Luxury developer Andrew Mazzella, known for his high-end projects in Montana, is the buyer, and he has ambitious plans for the property.
Designed by the renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the 4,000-square-foot concrete estate has had a turbulent journey since West originally purchased it for $57.3 million in 2021. After stripping the home down to its bare bones, the rapper left the renovation incomplete and eventually sold it in 2023 for a steep loss.

A Rocky Real Estate Journey
West’s decision to gut the mansion without finishing the project left it in a state of disrepair. Belwood Investments, led by Steven “Bo” Belmont, acquired the property for just $21 million—less than half of what West initially paid. Belmont then invested $8.5 million in renovations to restore it to its original minimalist glory.
Despite his efforts, Belmont ultimately decided to move on from the project, re-listing the home last week for $39 million. In record time, Mazzella stepped in with an offer reportedly between $30 million and $34 million, which Belmont confirmed to The Wall Street Journal.
Mazzella, who is funding the purchase through third-party investors, sees this acquisition as a pivotal moment in his career. “California and L.A., specifically Malibu, is the highest level there is, and I’ve always wanted to get to the highest level,” he told WSJ. “This is me kicking down the door.”

Big Plans for an Even Bigger Profit
Now that Mazzella has secured the property, he intends to move to Malibu for the remainder of the year to oversee its transformation. Once renovations are complete, he plans to re-list the home with an ambitious price tag of $55 million to $65 million—potentially doubling his investment.

Mazzella is represented in the deal by Amanda Lynn of Nest Seekers International, while the property was listed by high-profile agents Jason Oppenheim of Selling Sunset fame and Mauricio Umansky of The Agency.

A Long Road to Restoration
Despite its jaw-dropping price tag, the home still has a long way to go before it becomes move-in ready. When Kanye West owned the estate, he controversially removed all interior finishes, doors, and windows, leaving behind little more than a shell. While Belmont made significant improvements—including a new roof, updated plumbing, and electrical work—Mazzella will need to complete the remaining renovations to bring the mansion back to its original Ando-designed brilliance.
Conclusion: A Stunning Home, A Troubled Former Owner
Kanye West’s former Malibu mansion is undoubtedly a masterpiece in the making. With Tadao Ando’s world-class design and Mazzella’s commitment to revitalizing the property, it has the potential to become one of Malibu’s most sought-after luxury homes. However, its chaotic history serves as a reflection of West’s own unpredictable journey in recent years.
Once known for his groundbreaking music and creative vision, Kanye’s erratic decisions—both in real estate and in his personal life—suggest a man who has lost his sense of direction. Seeing him abandon such a rare architectural gem is just another sign of his ongoing struggles. Hopefully, he can find stability and reclaim the genius that once made him one of the most influential artists of our time.
