Rebekah Vardy 'vows to call in the lawyers' if Coleen Rooney mentions Wagatha Christie on I'm A Celeb.
Rebekah Vardy has told her lawyers to be on standby as she gets ready to reignite her ongoing rivalry with Coleen Rooney. Rebekah has requested her legal team to monitor the activities of Wayne Rooney's wife, 38, following her decision to join the cast of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here.
Rebekah is very vigilant and eager to remind the ITV executives and the show's hosts, Ant and Dec, that she holds the trademark for the phrase Wagatha Christie.
Reports suggest that the media figure has landed a deal that surpasses Nigel Farage's £1.5 million from the previous year.
Last week, Rebekah Vardy challenged Coleen Rooney’s £1.8m legal costs for their high profile libel trial.
This week's hearing was quite a nail-biter, but ultimately, it seems that Coleen has emerged victorious once more, according to Coad. Vardy's lawyer presented several arguments for why her financial obligation should be lowered.
However, in a decision made on Tuesday, senior costs judge Andrew Gordon-Saker rejected many of Vardy's arguments. He concluded that Rooney's legal team had acted properly, although he noted that this decision was made
"on balance and, I must admit, only just." Consequently, it was deemed "not an appropriate case" to lessen the amount Vardy is required to pay. The following day, the judge instructed Vardy to pay Rooney £100,000 this month. This amount is not in addition to her existing debt. Vardy has already settled £800,000, and the £100,000 is simply another installment toward the total amount owed. "Vardy took a gamble. It didn't pay off, and now she has to fork out another £100,000," Coad remarks.

Are you contemplating filing a claim against someone?
Have you thought about the expenses that come with it and whether it makes financial sense to pursue this route? In a recent high-profile defamation case, the High Court ruled in favor of Coleen Rooney, ordering Rebekah Vardy to pay £1,501,000 in damages along with 90% of Coleen's costs, amounting to £800,000. Additionally, Rebekah is responsible for her own legal fees and the costs associated with the legal representation for the journalists involved in the case.
High Court Judge Steyn remarked that Rebekah's actions in destroying evidence warranted her facing increased "indemnity" costs. The High Court mandated that Rebekah cover Coleen's legal expenses on an indemnity basis due to the destruction and/or deletion of evidence in this case. As a result of her actions, Rebekah is now subject to a higher penalty for costs, having neglected her responsibility to maintain and reveal important correspondence and items relevant to the case.
In litigation, the common principle is that the winning party typically receives their costs from the losing party. This is generally the case, barring any specific rules regarding fixed costs, unless your claim is for less than £10,000.00. In that situation, your case will be directed to the Small Claims Court. For claims in the Small Claims Court, you won't be able to recover most of your legal representation costs or court fees, and only limited fixed costs will apply.
