Legal Reactions

Jaime's attorney, Diana D. Hagopian, stated that the court has denied all of Kyle's previous emergency requests. Diana emphasized that the allegations against Jaime are completely false and seem aimed at harming her reputation and attracting negative media attention. She expressed concern over Kyle's use of the legal system to make unfounded claims and manipulate the situation, stating, “It is unfortunate that Mr. Newman continues to utilize the court in an attempt to continue … the filing of unfounded malicious claims and to use the children as weapons and pawns without regard to their privacy.” Diana also highlighted Jaime's commitment to a peaceful co-parenting relationship, prioritizing the happiness and well-being of their children. A hearing regarding Kyle's restraining order request is set for November 18.

Kyle's Concerns

Kyle's attorney, Garry Gekht, shared that Kyle's main concern is for Jaime to receive the help she needs to ensure she can be a safe and appropriate parent, while also requesting privacy for the sake of the children, who are currently in his care. Kyle and Jaime, 45, were married in 2007 and finalized their divorce in 2023.

Parenting Challenges

Kyle and Jaime have two sons together: James Knight and Leo Thames. In his petition for a restraining order, Kyle suggested that Jaime should have supervised visitation rights. He also requested that she undergo drug and alcohol testing. He stated, “The children are at risk when they are with their mother. Jaime King is struggling with addiction and is emotionally neglecting and abusing our children, putting them in harmful situations and exposing them to troubling individuals and content.”

Kyle mentioned that the children are pleading for him to help them escape the turmoil in their mother’s home. He reported that on October 17, he received a call from his sons asking him to come and get them from Jaime’s place. “I arrived at Jaime’s house around 7:45 a.m. I knocked on the door and was welcomed by the boys. Once inside, I noticed Jaime on the floor, wearing a navy blue and white varsity jacket, her hair in pigtails, and she seemed to be either without pants or in very short shorts. There were two men present.”

Kyle described Jaime as looking distressed and under the influence, saying, “She motioned for me to come closer, struggling to get up. Jaime was slurring her speech and remarked, ‘Those are bad boys.’ We need to address our boys’ behavior.”

In his filing, Kyle asserted that the actress has a history of significant substance abuse and has recently relapsed, jeopardizing their children's safety while in her care. Kyle concluded, “Jaime loves our children, and we want her to seek help — however, I cannot compel her to do so, and I cannot allow our children to remain in a situation of ongoing danger and neglect due to Jaime’s addiction.”
