Amy Slaton in Crisis After Divorce – Family Blames New Boyfriend.
Amy Slaton is working hard to bounce back after her split from Michael Halterman, with whom she spent six years married. However, her friends are concerned she might be going down a troubling path, especially after her recent arrest for drug possession with her new boyfriend, Brian Lovvorn, as reported by an insider.
“Amy’s been trying to stay positive and move on from Michael, but it’s been tough for her,” the source reveals. “Everyone was shocked when she got arrested for having marijuana and magic mushrooms a couple of months back, and now her friends and family are blaming Brian.”
The insider adds that Brian is a newcomer in her life and “nobody really trusts him.”
“They’re worried he’s taking advantage of her vulnerability. There’s a sense that he’s a bad influence, and she’s not making the best decisions right now,” the source explains.
Amy, 37, got arrested in Crockett County, Tennessee, on September 2 after a camel bit her during her trip to Tennessee Safari Park. An employee from the park called 911, saying they needed an ambulance for someone who had been bitten by a camel, according to public information officer Stephen Sutton.
When deputies arrived, they were hit with some strange smells coming from Amy's vehicle. She was at the park with Brian and her two sons, Gage and Glenn, and ended up facing charges for illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI substances, along with two counts of child endangerment. Officers found what they thought were marijuana and mushrooms in her car, which were reportedly visible.
The claims mentioned in this statement are just that—claims of criminal behavior and not proof. The defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law with solid evidence.

Amy was released on a $10,000 bond posted by her brother Chris Combs the next day and pleaded not guilty to charges of drug possession and child endangerment.
“It’s shocking that she was charged for having drugs in the car while out with her kids. Her children mean everything to her, and this puts them in danger, not to mention the risk of losing custody. Clearly, she’s going through a rough patch,” an insider shared. “The divorce hit her hard, and she’s still trying to get her life back on track. It’s a really tough situation for her.”
The star of 1000-Lb. Sisters separated from Michael, 41, in February 2023, and he filed for divorce a month later. Their divorce was finalized in October, with both agreeing to share custody of their sons.
“I have the boys 70 percent of the time, and Michael has them 30,” Amy later shared.
Amy got emotional about her divorce in an October episode of her TLC show.
“I need to get these couches out of here because they make me think of Michael. I can’t take it anymore, I just want them gone,” she shared with her sister Amanda Halterman, wiping away tears. “For now, I’m focusing on myself—my mental health, my physical health, and how I look. I’m thinking about changing my hair color. I just want a fresh look and to shed all this extra skin.”
