Naomi Biden, the President's granddaughter, welcomed a baby on Wednesday.
The Biden family just got a little bigger with the arrival of President Biden's first great-grandchild on Wednesday.
Naomi, the President's granddaughter, welcomed her first baby with her husband, Peter Neal, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. This joyful event comes just days before the President is set to leave the White House for good.
Joe and First Lady Jill Biden were quick to meet their new family member, sharing the exciting news on Instagram shortly after the birth.
"We are proud to introduce you to our great-grandson: William Brannon Neal, IV," the First Lady posted, along with a heartwarming photo of them gazing at the little one.
This delightful news arrives less than two weeks before Donald Trump is scheduled to be inaugurated as the next president.
Naomi, 31, tied the knot with Peter Neal in a beautiful ceremony on the White House lawn in November 2022, making history as the first grandchild of a sitting president to get married at that iconic location.
The couple started their relationship in 2018 thanks to a mutual friend who played matchmaker. Before that, Peter was an intern at the White House during the Obama-Biden years.
During the pandemic, they created an online resource called My CARES Act Benefits to assist small businesses in figuring out what relief funds they could access.
Naomi shared the news of her pregnancy on Election Day in November 2024 with an adorable Instagram post featuring her baby bump.
The President was absolutely thrilled to bring William into the Biden family, sharing his excitement with USA Today: "I'm about to be a great-grandfather, Jesus God."
Biden has a total of five kids and seven grandkids. His oldest grandchild is Naomi, who is the daughter of Hunter Biden and Kathleen Buhle. Hunter has four other kids: Finnegan, who's 24, Maisy, 23, Navy, 6, and Beau Jr., who is 4.
It's a tough story, though, as President Biden's son Beau lost his life to brain cancer in 2015, and he left behind a son and a daughter.
Biden had his daughter Naomi with his first wife, Neilia, back in 1971, but tragically, she died in a car accident in 1972 that also took Neilia's life. Later, in 1981, he welcomed his daughter Ashley with Jill.
The family is really tight-knit, and Naomi has shared that the President frequently calls to see how his grandkids are doing.
"We've grown up together," she told Today. "He's made sure that every single tradition, every holiday, we're all together...I don't think there's been any decision, no matter how big or small, that we haven't decided as a family."
Naomi expressed her pride in Biden's big choice to step back from the 2024 presidential race and back his vice president, Kamala Harris.
"I'm nothing but proud today of my Pop, our President, Joe Biden, who has served our country with every bit of his soul and with unmatched distinction," she posted on X.
"Not only has he been — and will continue to be — the most effective president of our lifetime, but he has likely already cemented himself as the most effective and impactful public servant in our nation's history."
President-Elect Donald Trump will be sworn in on January 21.
