Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, and Jon Voight have been designated as special envoys to the White House, serving as ambassadors for the entertainment industry.

President-elect Donald Trump disclosed their appointments, specifically established for this administration, on his social media platform Truth Social. He expressed his aspiration that they would contribute to revitalizing Hollywood, which he described as "great but very troubled," aiming to restore it "stronger than ever."
"It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California," Trump wrote.
"They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!"
"I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised," Mel said in a statement
"Nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can. Any chance the position comes with an Ambassador’s residence?"
Mel, Jon, and Sylvester were prominent Hollywood figures during the 1980s, though their recent endeavors have yielded only moderate success.
Mel Gibson, who achieved international recognition through the Lethal Weapon series, was once a beloved figure in Hollywood until 2006, when he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
His anti-Semitic remarks directed at Jewish police officer James Mee garnered widespread media attention. Additionally, he faced allegations of domestic abuse from his former partner, Oksana Grigorieva, and a series of leaked phone conversations appeared to reveal him using racist language and making threats towards her.
As a result of these controversies, he was effectively blacklisted from Hollywood for more than ten years, with his reputation beginning to recover only after the release of the Oscar-nominated film Hacksaw Ridge in 2016.
Sylvester has not affiliated himself with either the Republican or Democratic parties and has contributed to candidates from both sides.
However, following Trump's victory in the 2024 election, the action star participated in an event at Mar-a-Lago, where he lauded the President-elect, referring to him as a "mythical character" and the "second George Washington," while also drawing parallels to his renowned film persona, Rocky Balboa.
Jon Voight, the father of Angelina Jolie, has identified as a Republican for several years, following a period during the 1960s and 1970s when he actively protested against the Vietnam War and endorsed leftist movements worldwide.

In May 2019, the actor known for his role in Ray Donovan shared a two-part video on Twitter in which he expressed his support for Trump's policies, referring to him as "the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln." He further alleged that President Joe Biden had unlawfully secured victory in the 2020 election.
Donald Trump is set to be inaugurated on January 20, 2025, after defeating Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
