Macaulay Culkin Sells NYC Apartment for $7.75 Million.

Macaulay Culkin has sold one of his initial real estate holdings, selling a New York City apartment that he acquired at the age of 19 for $1.73 million. The 44-year-old actor completed an off-market transaction for the 4,800-square-foot full-floor condominium, achieving a profit of $6 million with a final sale price of $7.75 million, as reported by the New York Post. The publication confirmed that the sale records were submitted to the city register on January 21st.

The apartment was briefly available on the market starting January 10th at a price of $7.75 million, but it was removed from listings the very next day. Situated in NoHo near Washington Square Park, the residence boasts three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious L-shaped living area that combines the kitchen, dining, and living spaces. Culkin initially purchased the loft in 1999, shortly after his marriage to Rachel Miner, his first wife.

Their marriage concluded three years later, yet he retained possession of the apartment for over twenty years. In a 2016 interview with Vulture, Culkin revealed that he was splitting his time between his loft in New York and a residence in France, where he believed he could experience greater anonymity. The New York building, rich in history, has stood since 1856, originally serving as the headquarters for the Socialist Workers’ Party before being transformed into residential lofts in the 1970s by Bruce Gitlin, a factory owner who engaged in legal battles to maintain the property.

The NoHo neighborhood has undergone significant changes since that time, with an increasing number of luxury boutiques and upscale dining options revitalizing the area. Culkin remarked in an interview that the environment had evolved considerably during his tenure as owner. In recent years, Culkin's personal life has shifted towards the west; he and his long-term partner Brenda Song, whom he met while filming Changeland in 2019, now live in Toluca Lake, California.

The couple's main residence is a five-bedroom, six-bathroom estate, which the former child star acquired in 2022 from Kiefer Sutherland in an off-market transaction valued at $8 million. Culkin, who captured audiences' hearts at the age of ten as the ingenious Kevin McCallister in the iconic Home Alone films, confessed that he briefly considered purchasing the Home Alone house when it was listed for $5.25 million in May 2024.

Speaking at the Rosemont Theater in Illinois in December, he said, "I had half a mind to buy it—just for giggles." He thought about turning the house into a "movie fun house," allowing guests to relive classic scenes like sledding down the staircase. The proposed plan did not come to fruition, and the Chicago property was sold to an undisclosed buyer for $5.5 million on January 15, 2025. Additionally, the identity of the person who purchased Macaulay Culkin's New York City apartment remains confidential.
