Apple to Invest $500B in U.S. Expansion, Including AI Server Facility in Texas.
Apple announced on Monday its intention to invest over $500 billion in the United States over the next four years, which includes the hiring of 20,000 new employees to produce artificial intelligence servers at a new factory located in Texas.
The company characterized this investment initiative as its "largest-ever spending commitment." It revealed plans to collaborate with partners to establish a new manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, dedicated to producing AI servers that were previously manufactured abroad, as well as to create a manufacturing academy in Michigan.
Additionally, Apple stated that this investment would enhance its commitment to artificial intelligence and research and development in silicon engineering, while also doubling the size of its U.S. advanced manufacturing fund—which aims to promote "innovation and high-skilled manufacturing" jobs in the nation—to $10 billion.
This announcement from the iPhone manufacturer coincides with U.S. President Donald Trump's threats to impose tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, alongside increased tariffs on Chinese goods to encourage domestic production. Apple indicated that it plans to recruit approximately 20,000 individuals over the next four years for the Houston facility, with the majority of these positions focusing on research and development, silicon engineering, software development, and artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Texas Factory Set to Open in 2026
Apple announced that its 250,000-square-foot factory in Texas will be instrumental in supporting its Apple Intelligence AI model, with plans for the facility to commence operations in 2026.
In conjunction with its manufacturing fund, Apple also revealed a "multibillion-dollar commitment" to produce advanced chips at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s facility in Arizona.
On Monday, Apple shares remained relatively stable during intraday trading, having increased by over 30% in the year leading up to Friday.
Apple's bold $500 billion investment in the U.S. underscores the company's commitment to innovation, economic growth, and job creation. With the establishment of an AI server factory in Texas and the creation of thousands of new jobs, Apple is not only advancing its leadership in artificial intelligence and silicon engineering but also fostering the development of high-skilled manufacturing jobs across the country.
This initiative aligns with the broader goal of strengthening domestic production while contributing to the growth of cutting-edge technology. Apple’s investment will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the U.S. economy and its tech ecosystem for years to come.
