Christine, who was previously a member of the band Chicken Shack, joined the British-American rock ensemble Fleetwood Mac in 1970, two years after her marriage to John McVie, the band's bassist. As a key member of the iconic lineup, she collaborated with drummer Mick Fleetwood, vocalist Stevie Nicks, and singer/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham to create memorable songs. Among the hits she wrote for the band are "Don’t Stop" and "Songbird," among others.

In 1988, McVie departed from the band after nearly three decades, opting for a semi-retired life in a Grade II listed manor house located in Kent. Following a brief appearance with the band at the O2 arena in London in 2013, she rejoined them for a world tour. Consequently, she began to spend more time in London, acquiring a penthouse on Eaton Place in Belgravia in 2015 after selling her estate in Kent.
